The Hellbore Torpedo is a Federation weapon that is available to all starships equipped with Quantum Torpedoes and Quantite. A quantum torpedo modified with quantite to produce a hellbore torpedo is as powerful as a Romulan Singularity Torpedo and envelops a target's shields in a huge quantum based energy explosion.
The only limitation to the use of this technology is the relative rarity of quantite which is only found in the Gamma Quadrant and so is placed under usage restrictions by Starfleet. Because of these restrictions the hellbore torpedo should be used only as a last option.
