Second Lieutenant is the lowest line officer rank. It is an entry level rank for those that have completed the Starfleet Marine Academy, this rank is above the Non-Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Ranks, however it is below First Lieutenant and has a ranking code of O-1. The rank is equivalent to Ensign in the Starfleet. The rank insignia consists of one gold color.
