In a hostile galaxy filled with many numerous potential and active enemies, Strategic Operations is responsible for coordinating Starfleet's defensive and, in times of war, offensive operations. Task force and battlegroup formations are approved and authorized by StratOps in conjunction with the regional Fleet Commanders, and the Director of Strategic Operations works with the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the First Force Commander to coordinate Starfleet's defense of the Federation.
