The USS Crazy Horse NCC-50446-F is a Insignia class Starship.
The USS Crazy Horse D was a Defiant Class Starship that never saw service in the Second Dominion War, having been rushed out of the drydock too late. The multi-role escort was taken to the Starfleet Reserve Surplus Depot, under the purview of the Proxima Maintenance Yards, in the Proxima Centauri System (Alpha Centauri C) where it has drifted unused.
The vessel had remained there untouched for four years, components missing or salvaged, never quite completed or made fit for use, until she was formally commissioned on SD241205.10 as the USS Crazy Horse. She was tasked specifically to undergo a series of recon missions near Krivaldi space, a hostile species who have begun stirring once more. That the original USS Crazy Horse had made first contact with the Krivaldi over eight years ago, it seemed destiny played a hand in the choice.
As the fourth vessel to wear this prestigious name, this neglected and malfunction-prone hull was placed under the Command of a green (pun fully intended), freshly promoted Vulcan Captain. His first task was to carefully chose a fine experienced crew to man her and, together, they must complete their mission no matter the obstacles before them or the problems caused by their own shenanigans.
The Fifth vessel to hold the name Crazy Horse is the Magellen Class. This ship is on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to the junker that was the Defiant Class. The Magellen Class is huge and similar in size to the collosal Excalibur Class ships. The main difference with the Magellen is that it's designed for war, the extensive sensor pallets and science equipment have been replaced by additional weapons, more torpedo launchers and enough fighter berths to house an entire wing. The ship houses over 2000 crew and does not hold many civilians.
The sixth vessel to hold the name of Crazy Horse is the Insigna class interceptor. Given that a massive Magellen class was impractical to the needs of the crew of the Horse, a smaller patrol vessel was renamed the Crazy Horse. For the first time in years, the Horse was not destined to be a carrier.
She sails under the command of Commander Robert Lansine and Lieutenant Zivit Agron.
