Considered to be one of the best marine logistical commanders the corps has ever seen, General Alexander Steele has been in the marine corps since the age of 18, when he passed 10th in his class at the academy, of of a class of eighty.
Although placing in the top ten in his class, Alex found life in the field very difficult. Prefering pursuits of the mind, rather than of the body, he quickly found himself gravitating to staff positions rather than field command roles. This quickly earned him a reputation as a bit of a weakling amoung his peers, something he was anxious to prove he wasn't.
During the renewed offensive with the Romulan Star Empire in 2355, he served on the front lines of the conflict, earning himself bravery citations and service medals for solid command. Now that he'd proved himself, mostly to himself, he went back into the administrative side of the marine corps.
From there, his career was fairly unremarkable until 2404, when at the rank of Colonel, he was appointed as Divisional officer for Gamma Fleet, such as it was. This put him in direct oversight of the 3rd MEU. This would be a critical appointment for Steele, as he would have direct command over multiple marine units.
It was during this time, he came to meet a young man, Richard Sharpe. Although a maverick and a gunslingr, Major Sharpe was considered a valuable asset to Steele. Sharpe was on Trilista, serving with the 3rd MEU, and Steele quickly grasped that Sharpe was a field commander through and through. He made sure that Sharpe moved into higher command positions in the MEU. During this period, Steele earned his first star.
After this, Steele moved to HeadQuarters, Marine Corps (HQMC), where he spent a four year stint as the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps. After that, he shifted from position to position, slowly and surely advancing in rank. Finally, he became Commandant of the Marine Corps, with four stars to his name.
