Born to a less than traditional family, Selin has less control over her emotions than a typical Vulcan. She has high regards for the Vulcan way of life however and will always seek the logical solution before chasing a 'hunch'. She has a very close relationship with her brother Tivan. However both siblings have drifted from their parents in their adulthood. Trained at the Vulcan Science Academy, Selin first thought to teach biology to Vulcan children. Feeling stipheled, she decided to join Starfeet and expand her horizons off of Vulcan.
Her first assignment on the USS Crazy Horse was a bit of a culture shock, especially after finding herself in love with the Chief of Security Angus McTaggart. They married rather hastily, but with no regrets. Selin was not surprised when her parents did not accept her marriage.
With the departure of Garth Triss, Selin was promoted to CMO, and flourished with the responsibility. Her years on the Archer were happy ones. Until her husband was called away on a secret mission, and disappeared.
Roughs years went bye before her husband body was finally returned to her. She returned to Vulcan with his Katra, only to be refused posession of it, and asked to leave under threat of her families property being taken away.
She was assigned briefly to XO the USS Dirae, but suddenly her brother informed her he had arranged a marriage for her, with father's approval. The arranged marriage would put her family in possesion of more land then they had ever owned, and with resignation and a sense of duty, Selin returned once again to the planet that had recently scorned her.
She accepted her new husband, a full blooded Vulcan, and was not surprised to find him in Pon Farr shortly after the ceremony A fiery and painful consumation was to be expected, but when Pon Farr passed and he remained violent, Selin finally realized that the arranged marriage to a higher ranked family had all been in the name of keeping her mates mental status hidden.
She broke their bond, without the aid of a healer, and though painful was nowhere near the scar the broken bond with McTaggart had caused. She fled Vulcan yet again, but this time with the steely determination to never return. She dismissed her failed Kolinahr, rejected the harsh lessons of her desert homeworld, and returned to Starfleet, ready to serve wherever they felt her worthy.
