Information
Vesta-class starship on Exploration and diplomatic duty in the Beta Quadrant Following the destruction of her predecessor, The USS Archer NCC 62750 - E; continues her mission of Exploration.
History
The USS Archer NCC 62750 D started her life as another ship. She was rolled off the assembly line during the later months of the first Dominon War and bore the name USS Akatsuki. She survived many encounters with the Dominion including the Retaking of DS9 as well as the Second battle of Chintoka. She was also among those ships present at the liberation of Cardassia. The Akatsuki served with distinction for decades leading up to and including the Second Dominion War. She once again survived that war. She was removed from active duty following the final battle of that war, having suffered severe damage. She was repaired and reassigned as an academy training vessel and restricted to the SOL system, where she stayed until the Destruction of The USS Archer C.
With heavy losses to the boarder defense fleet, Beta Fleet command transferred the USS Akatsuki to StarBase Versailles to be assigned as a replacement ship for the Archer's crew. After nearly a month in dry dock, the Akatsuki was renamed USS Archer D.
